Hendra House is an established family run residential home located in the
beautiful and unspoilt market town of Ludlow in the heart of the South
Shropshire countryside. The home is easily accessible by both road and public

delivering high quality care to its residents and their relatives in pursuit of

During our most recent unannounced inspections in July 2015 the home
was rated as “Outstanding” by the Care Quality Commission, and in doing so

Hendra House is owned by Vince (right) & Gill Burmingham
both of whom were raised and have lived in the Ludlow area all of their lives.
Vince & Gill purchased the business in 2002 from the
previous owner and formed Hendra Healthcare (Ludlow) Limited to facilitate the
Prior to the acquisition of Hendra House Vince was a Group
Operations Manager with a national care company with responsibility for the
management of a diverse range of care establishments which included general and
EMI nursing care, general and EMI residential care as well as domiciliary care.
Vince holds a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Development as well as the
Registered Managers Awards and NVQ Level 4 Award in Social Care. In addition he
is an “Employers Champion” for the Social Care sector, a member of the National
Strategic Board for apprenticeships in Social Care and is currently involved in
designing future national qualifications in Social Care.
homes Care Managers are Lisa Husbands (left) and Lindsay Giess (right). Lisa
joined the company in 2013 and has been employed in the Adult Social Care Sector
since 2007 and prior to joining Hendra House was a Deputy Manager in a Day Care
establishment. Lisa holds the NVQ Level 4 Managers Award and is the homes “lead”
on all matters relating to Dementia Care and Adult Protection.
Lindsay joined the company in 2010 and has been employed in the Adult Social
Care Sector since 2008.
Lindsay is currently completing the NVQ Level 5 Management Award and is a
qualified Moving & Handling Trainer. In addition to her Care Managers role she
is the homes “lead” on Moving & Handling and Organising Residents Activities.
In 2010 Lindsay won the Bronze Medal at the World Skills in Care competitions
held in London.
Both Care Managers lead a team of dedicated Lead Practitioners, Team Leaders and
Hendra House is registered by the Care Quality Commission
(CQC), to provide residential accommodation for 28 elderly residents and accepts
residents who are either self-funding or funded either in part, or wholly by the
