Since the acquisition of the business in
2002 by the current owners Hendra House has undergone a
considerable transformation, which has resulted in the
luxurious, but homely surroundings currently enjoyed by all
of the residents.
Local Transport - The
home is adjacent to Sandpits Road and is within 50 yards
of the local bus stop with a regular service to all parts
of the town and the local train station.
Access - The home is
accessed by the newly constructed pedestrian access, which
complies fully with the requirements of the Disability
Discrimination Act, thereby providing ease of access to
residents and visitors alike. Handrails are provided
throughout the home for the convenience of both residents
& visitors.
The home operates on two floors with a mechanical lift
servicing both floors, in addition a flight of stairs is
available for those who do not wish to use the lift.
Lift – The home is accessible by a newly installed
passenger lift, providing unrestricted access to all parts
of the home.

Rooms - The most
recent improvement works were completed in September 2007
and the home now provides 28 single rooms all with
en-suite facilities each one decorated and furnished to a
high standard to suit individual needs and tastes.
The home offers three styles of rooms these being the
Executive, Premier and Standard. Each category being
determined by size, view, fittings and furnishings.
Nurse Call System -
All rooms are serviced by a newly installed
nurse call
system.
Personal Hygiene - The
home offers both bathing and shower facilities for its
residents in modern bathrooms each equipped to a high
standard with the latest patient and staff aid facilities
incorporated. In addition facilities for
visiting hairdressers are available as
required.
Food - Hendra House
prides itself on the quality of food delivered to its
residents, using the best locally sourced ingredients from
the same suppliers as some of the towns internationally
renowned restaurants.
The
nutritional benefits and quality of food delivered at the
home were recognised by the awarding of the “Platinum
Award” in the Shropshire Healthy Eating Award scheme.
This is the highest award available and is assessed
jointly by Shropshire County Primary Care Trust assessors
in conjunction
with South Shropshire District Council Environmental
Health Officers.
At the time of assessment in September 2008 the home was
one of
only two food establishments licensed and inspected by
South Shropshire District Council to be granted this
prestigious award.
Communal Areas - Residents can enjoy the
comfort and sociability of the main lounge, or enjoy the
peaceful atmosphere of the quiet area which is provided
for those who wish to partake in more relaxing activities.
In addition the home offers a large conservatory leading
directly to a landscaped garden area with easy access for
residents and visitors alike.
Dining
Room - The new and
extended dining room offers residents the opportunity to
enjoy a varied selection of home cooked fare in a modern
but relaxed environment.
Laundry - All laundry
is processed on site in our modern laundry with equipment
which is compliant with current regulations relating to
infection control, which ensures we minimise the risk of
any form of cross infection to our residents.
Smoking - The home
offers a dedicated internal smoking area for
those
who wish to indulge, without causing any inconvenience to
the remainder of the residents who are non-smokers.
Treatment Room – The
home has a dedicated treatment room, which is fully
compliant with the latest infection control requirements
for use by all visiting healthcare practitioners. |
