Evidence of staff satisfaction and commitment can be found
in the Assessors Report which identified that:
- People feel empowered and involved and are committed
to making residents feel that -this is their home
- People enjoy coming to work at Hendra House, there
is low staff turnover and absenteeism
- People feel valued – people feel their work is
intrinsically rewarding and everyone confirmed that they
are thanked genuinely and often by the Manager,
residents and relatives. They also gain a sense of
achievement from external recognition of their work
Our investment in the development of the staff at
Hendra House has, we believe, been a major factor in the
successes of the home to date. This belief being
reinforced by the fact that:
The home was voted the Best Apprentice Employer in Social
Care at the 2012 Care Accolades, as well as being one of
the “Top 100 Employers” in the country for the second year
running.
In addition the home were National Finalists and Regional
Winners in the 2012 National Apprentice Awards, and still
remains the only organisation from the Social Care Sector
to have been national winners at the awards (in 2009)
since its formation 10 years ago, as well as being a
finalist in the Best Employer for Staff Development at the
Shropshire Business Awards.

The Whilst our care team are a key factor in delivering
quality care, we also recognise that our catering and
domestic teams are equally important & valued in the
efficient & effective running of the home.
Our experienced team of cooks and kitchen staff
consistently prepare and deliver appetising and
nutritional homemade meals to meet the changing needs of
each individual resident. This fact being commented upon
by CQC Inspectors, in both announced and unannounced
inspection reports.
The efforts of our cooks and kitchen staff were recognised
in the awarding of the “Platinum Award”, (the highest
level achievable), in the Shropshire Healthy Eating Awards
Scheme, as well as achieving the ultimate 5 Star Rating
for Food Safety and Management issued by Shropshire Council.
Our domestic team prides itself on the cleanliness of the
home and the individual rooms of each resident, thereby
ensuring that we maintain a safe and healthy environment
for our residents and visitors.
Evidence of their commitment to achieving this aim can be
measured by the fact that during our Infection Control
Audit in December 2012 the home became the first and only
home in Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin to be awarded
the coveted Platinum Award for Infection Control.
In conclusion, we believe that our investment in the
development of our staff has been instrumental in our
achievements to date and has resulted in a workforce that
consistently demonstrates exceptional levels of
commitment, loyalty, professionalism and pride in ensuring
that we provide high quality care to our numerous
residents and their families at all times. |
