"It was a pleasure to visit the home
and see how standards of infection prevention and control
have risen further since my first visit to the home in
2009. The improvements to the home are outstanding and I
know that the home is held by District Nurses to have the
best facilities! The treatment room has to be said to be
of an exceptionally high standard, it is clean, tidy, well
organised with good storage facilities.
The newest development seen was the cleaner’s cupboard
which again is of the highest standard, clean, tidy and
has excellent fixtures and fittings. I have also commented
that the cleaner’s trolley is by far the cleanest,
organised trolley I have ever seen.
The staff made me welcome and showed me around the home
with pride, everyone at Hendra House should be commended
for the standard of infection prevention and control seen
and the outstanding award you have achieved.
Hendra House is the first home within Shropshire, Telford
and Wrekin to achieve 100% and a platinum award".
Infection Control Nurse/Inspector – December 2012
"Could I on behalf of
Resident D and all her family, thank everyone at Hendra
House for their care, dedication and humanity.
Thank you for the very informative minutes of last night’s
Residents and Relatives Meeting, an example of best
practice that might be followed by most of our nation’s
top companies".
DD Worcester – December 2012
"Very many congratulations to you
and all of your team for being voted Best Medium Sized
Employer in the West Midlands, you must have all been
absolutely delighted. The award is richly deserved.
I am sure that to have been selected as one of only12
companies, out of a national total of 1500, to reach the
National Finals at the NEC was an enormous thrill. However
despite the fact that you did not receive the ultimate
award, you did attain a splendid consolation prize as one
of the top100 Apprentice Employers in the country for the
second year running, a really terrific achievement.
Well done to everyone at Hendra House".
Philip Dunne MP – November 2012
“Hendra House thoroughly deserved their National Care
Accolades Award as their innovative approach to person
centred care through an impressive Apprenticeship
programme beating off fierce competition from the
finalists in their category,” “Everyone at the ceremony
was impressed by their absolute commitment to person
centred care and thinking differently about service
delivery that has completely transformed the lives of the
people they work with”.
Sharon Allen CEO – Skills For Care - March
2012
"Thank you so much for caring
for our mother so well in the months she was with you. I
wish she had come to you sooner as she would have
benefited from the company and the laughs that are always
at Hendra. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts".
The C Family – March 2012
“Just to say thank you for all the care, compassion and
real love you showed to mum in her time with you at Hendra
House. Thank you too for welcoming me in to the” team”,
and not making me feel I was interfering. I will really
miss you all, as well as the rest of the “Hendra Family”.
Thanks is just a little word but your kindness is
appreciated more than you could ever know”.
Relative LS – Ludlow – January 2012
“We as a family can’t thank
you enough for the professional and compassionate care
that you and your amazing team gave to my mother in her
final years.
Prior to coming to Hendra mum was in another care home,
and had become withdrawn and isolated, and not the mum I
had known and loved for so long, but within weeks of being
in your care you “gave me my mum back” and it was such a
relief to see her so well looked after, even singing to
herself like she used to.
Thank you for delivering the eulogy at mum’s funeral, and
also for the representation of so many staff at the
service, which was greatly appreciated by us all. Your
care shows no bounds.”
Relative DM – Craven Arms – Aug 2011
"Hendra’s business plan
focuses on a continuously improving organisation, whose
reputation has been built over the 9 years of the present
ownership. A small independent home with a family
atmosphere, its commitment to excellence ensures that it
more than holds its own in competition with larger
operations."

Representatives / Assessors ClnCH (Shropshire
Community Involvement In Care & Health) - January 2011.
“Residents are actively involved in decision making and
they support staff undergoing training. They are very
eager to help apprentices achieve and progress.
Hendra has a positive approach to social care, and has
done a lot to raise the public profile of the sector by
winning awards, sharing good practice with member groups,
and championing apprenticeships across the sector and the
country.
Everyone at “Team Hendra” is involved in everything that
is going on. The standard of care reflects the massive
investment that the owner has made in recruiting the right
staff and training and developing them to fulfil their
potential. This positive attitude and value based approach
is evident as soon as you enter the front door.
Relatives feel that their loved ones receive excellent
care and that all their needs are met in a very caring
manner by staff who show respect, and allow individuals
choice and dignity. One relative said “Thanks for giving
me my mum back”.
The recruitment process allows any person who has a
passion, or shows potential to be a social care worker the
opportunity to succeed in a supportive organisation”.
National Skills Accolades Judges - Dec 2010
“Trophy or no trophy at the National Skills Accolades
ceremony, the real winners are the residents at Hendra
House who have all of their needs met by a loyal and
dedicated staff team who are committed to providing care
of the highest quality to all of our loved ones at all
times…we could not ask for more”.
Relative A P – Stratford – Dec 2010.
"I owe a huge debt of gratitude to all of the staff at Hendra House for looking after my ‘young’ 95 year old
mother so well and in so doing giving me peace of mind.
All of the girls are very caring and considerate and
manage to retain the residents’ dignity and keep them
entertained, healthy and happy in what can often be very
difficult circumstances. Mum’s professional care plan is
exemplary and Hendra certainly deserve all of the
accolades they have received. I cannot praise them too
highly".
Relative J F - Wigmore – Dec 2010
"I would like to thank you all very much for the way in
which you looked after my dad, during the time he resided
with you. He could not have been better cared for,
especially with all the health problems he had in recent
times.
Nothing was too much trouble for you and you made sure
that he was as comfortable and happy as possible".
I was always kept well informed promptly, on any changes
in his health and the medical treatment he was receiving,
and this gave me peace of mind when we were not with him.
I know that dad felt really happy during his time with
you, because when we took him out for the day he always
referred to Hendra as “going back home”.
Hendra House and all of your staff certainly deserve all
of the awards and accolades achieved so far, and I am sure
that more will come.
Your strength is that you treat all residents as
individuals and this creates a contented atmosphere.
Whatever time of day we visited dad the welcome and help
we received from all the staff was of the same high
standard.
Thank you all for all your help and care"
CK – Craven Arms - July 2010
"Our sincere thanks to you all for making
mum’s time with you so happy and safe. It has been a
pleasure knowing you, and we have enjoyed our visits to
the home chatting with both the residents and staff. We
will miss you all, you have made us all feel part of the
“Hendra Family” and we look forward to seeing you all
again in the near future".
The B Family – Jan 2010
“After returning from a trying and exhausting visit to
Shrewsbury Hospital, dad said to me “Oh its good to be
back home”, you succeeded in making it feel like his home.
I epically want to thank you for the way in which you
managed the final days of dad’s life. He did not want to
go to hospital and the co-operation between the home, the
doctors and the district
nurse team ensured that his end was peaceful.
Everything was in place for his comfort, and the support
of your staff for dads family that night
was most sensitive, present and at hand, but not
intrusive.
Thank you so much, your care of dad was a fine example of
love in action, and gave comfort not only to him, but also
to the family. God bless you all”
HP Family - June 2009
"Before mum came to you I visited quite a few
residential homes, and none of them came anywhere near
your standards. The staff are always very pleasant, the
home is clean and the food is excellent".
Relative D B - Ludlow - Nov 2008
“We hope you already know how much we appreciated
the wonderful home that Hendra was to mum during her last
years. You and all of your staff have always showed such
high levels of personal care and attention. We know that
mum enjoyed being part of the Hendra family.
We felt from the beginning how lucky mum was to live at
Hendra, and this feeling only grew during her years with
you. The caring ethos of the home is a true reflection on
the example you set, and the high standards you expect of
yourself and your staff.
When we visited mum we were always made to feel very
welcome and on leaving knew that mum could not be in
better hands”.
JP and Family – Ludlow – July 2008
"We want to thank you and all of the staff at Hendra
for looking after mum so well during her time with you. We
appreciate that in more recent times her requirements
placed greater demands on everyone and we are most
grateful that you were all able to rise to the occasion
and provide her with care well beyond what one might
expect in a residential home.
We do feel that you, together with some wonderful staff,
have created at Hendra a home of which you should all be
very proud".
The A Family - July 2008
"In my forty years of clerical ministry in the Church
of England I have met many older people in residential
home settings. I can say without reservation that none of
these have been better than Hendra House. My family will
be forever grateful to all the staff at Hendra House for
the caring,
loving, ministry which they offered to my mother when she
was a resident".
Revd. Prebendary GE - June 2008

seen him happier or more contented”
